Booties or socks?

For newborn, socks are more snug and hold better, but when bb is slightly older, booties are more spacious so it's not too warm esp in hot weather. But it really depends on baby if she kicks alot since most newborns would be swaddled up. We got a mix of both, and new booties were kept for newborn stage since hand me downs would have become much looser too.. when we headed out, baby will be wearing socks :)
