In 2018 the Philippines reported 113 cases of Meningococcal disease resulting to 57 deaths. Sadly, rate increased to 15% on year 2019 having 130 cases with 68 fatality. The DOH said that it is “an acute and potentially life-threatening bacterial infection of the bloodstream.” Though not highly contagious, but fatal because meningococcal meningitis can kill in a matter of hours. But getting this infectious disease is preventable, vaccination is always the key. It is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself from getting the disease.
