Kids Maintenance Fees

If the daddy don’t want to pay, and after many court order, he is being sentenced to few days jail, does he still need to pay after being released? (As what i read in the news not for this case, a couple abused a maid and don’t want to pay compensation, so jailed for another few weeks more will do.)
