Cooking for baby
Hello, I have just started making meals for my 6 months old. Currently I am using rice cereal mainly, then add different meat & veggie on different days together. Fruits as after meal snacks, am I doing right? If I am, how long should I continue this before changing my method or ingredients?
It’s good to introduce a new food every 3 days, so you can watch out for allergies and all. At 6 months, if you’re doing traditional weaning, everything should be pureed. There are some baby pastas that are marketed for 7mo babies (although mine struggled with that). By 8 months, they should be better with soft lumps (very soft chopped vegetables, porridge, pasta, fruits, egg yolk, etc). I also started baby bites (melt in the mouth kind) at 6 months (small pieces first, then increased the size over time) to play around with textures. Some babies like everything in one bowl (like what you’re doing). Mine likes different elements and tastes in each meal, so she has like a 4 course tasting menu each meal at 8mo. Lol. It was a lot simpler at 6 months. But she’s really enjoying the eating. Anyway, every mum has their own style. If you’re getting bored with what you’re preparing, then change it up a little, as long as it’s safe for baby to eat:)
