You can gift him a book, some music CDs with singer of his choice. If he wears specks, you can gift him a nice cover. You can personally make a card for him by checking out many DIY videos on the Internet. You can take him out on a surprise dinner or lunch calling all other family members there in advance. You can get him nice shirt or if he plays sports then can gift him a related item. If he loves pets, you can gift him a cute little puppy. Check with your husband and his siblings. See if they are planning to get an expensive gift and chip in. This year, my partner and his siblings are getting their dad an iPad for his 60th birthday and I plan to chip in. Alternatively, you can get him an experience of sorts -- maybe a dinner, musical or concert tickets (dads love their cover bands).

I've thought of a few ideas: - Bottle of wine/whisky/beer (am also considering a home brewing kit for beer: http://www.ibrew.com.sg/StartertKit.asp or a workshop: http://homebrewco.com.sg/workshop2.html) - wallet - watch

Try gifting him a bottle of Champagne or Wine, A wallet and a belt combination looks good too or else surprise him by taking him out on a family dinner or best of all cook his favourite meal at home and a dessert.

Definitely a nice family dinner gathering will be great as most elderly would like to see all their children and grandchildren to be by their side when comes to any celebration. ☺️

An experience he can enjoy with the person of his choice e.g. dinner at a nice resto, a bottle of his favourite whiskey at a speakeasy, or floor seats to his favourite sport.

Dinner the best choice whole family sit down altogether have a delicious meal, chit chat makes him know the family is strong.

Maybe a belt, a wallet, a bag or a new phone? Else treating him for a holiday trip or over a dinner would be nice too!

A bottle of Wine/Whiskey/Rum, A Shirt-Tie-Cuffling combination, Wallet/Belt/Shoes.

Most older men are fine with alcohol and a nice Cuban cigar. Usually.
