Hi Hi. I just gave birth a couple weeks back and I just learnt there’s something called ‘nipple confusion’ where the LO starts off with bottle feed and when I try to breastfeed, it’s a little tricky. That’s why KKH is doing cup feeding to newborns to avoid the nipple confusion. If you plan to breastfeed exclusively, do request for a lactation nurse as soon as you’re in the ward so you can start breastfeeding your LO with their help and get your questions answered. If you would like your LO to have breastmilk but do not want her/him to latch then you would have to pump 3 hourly which can be tiring (which I am doing right now cause my LO is having nipple confusion).

Thanks for the advice. I latch my LO and bottle feed him as I discovered he has breastmilk jaundice and had to feed him formula. He generally still like to be latched but my supply is not enough. Hopefully your LO will get over the nipple confusion and it will be less tiring for you.

And oh, with regards to the helper. As a first time mum, help is greatly appreciated and needed for the first few weeks as it can be tiring and stressful if you’re on your own. Once you feel more confident, perhaps you can do it without your helper and have more privacy and one on one time with your LO. All the best and good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have my LO room in with my helper as she is really good with him. And once I move to a bigger place, I will room in with my LO.
