my boy (who is now 6) stopped at 13 mthsafter going cold turkey. took 3 days and he learnt to not wake up for milk. my girl (now 12 mths old) was given the same treatment at 6 mths but she never learns. still gets up every night and needed to be rocked back to sleep. recently she still gets up at 4am but only to look for pacifier. both are on over 75 percentile so PDs advise is that night feeds are not necessary. up to parents whether want to let kids wean off themselves or harden our hearts and just stop feeding.
went cold turkey for 2-3d... thereafter rarely needed motn feed. if need, i will try to offer water instead of cos ensure that bb is well fed during day time
