I am not well. Cough and cold. No fever. I breastfeed baby thru expressed pumping. Is it ok to hold and play with baby or will I get her sick too?

Cough and cold are highly contagious and easily spread through the air. Holding and playing with her will definitely increase the chances of you spreading the virus to her. But I guess it is also almost impossible for you to avoid contact with her. Since you are feeding her breast milk, she will very likely get the antibodies that your body has produced to fight against the virus that you are having. Still, it will not protect against contracting the virus, but it could probably shorten her recovery time. Take care mummy! Drink more water, consume food high in vitamin C and get plenty of rest to recover soon!

Yes, it is safe to breastfeed while you are having cold and in fact it would be better to continue breastfeed as baby will get your antibodies to fight the virus in case she/he catch the flu. However, make sure that you practise highest hygiene level by washing and sanitising your hands frequently and wear mask when you handling your baby.
