I am down with viral fever and doctor has prescribed antibiotics. Is it okay for me to breastfeed?

If you got the antibiotics from GP, do check with your gynae if it is safe for breastfeeding. It is okay to continue to breastfeed but it is advisable to pump and dump one cycle of breastmilk first before offer to baby. You might notice loose stool and diarrhea in the infant, but these side effects are temporary. This is due to changes in their intestinal flora (bacteria that are normally present in the intestines) while drinking your breastmilk. http://www.today.com/parents/taking-antibiotics-safe-while-breast-feeding-2D80555287

Some antibiotics are safe for breastfeeding. You can download the LactMed app to check.
