On average, babies tend to first roll from tummy to back between 2-5 months, from back to side between 4-5.5 months, and from back to tummy between 5.5-7.5 months. Regardless of whether babies take the fast or slow road to rolling, their bodies begin preparing to roll way before they ever flip themselves over that very first time. 1. Set down and pick up baby while shifting his weight to the side in a rolling motion. 2. Minimize time spent in baby equipment, let him move more. 3. Allow baby plenty of tummy time during the day. 4. Allow baby to play on her back while helping her move through “rounded” positions. 5. Allow baby to play on his side. Y Above few methods can help baby to roll over.

Learning to flip is an important milestone in any baby's life and develops differently, at different speed for each individual child. A friend of mine actually taught her little girl to flip over quite early, a month or two after birth because she realised that her daughter was very active and wriggling side to side whenever she was placed on her back. She placed on a soft surface like a mattress and put baby's favourite toy a little distance away from her left or right side. Baby would notice the toy and attempt to reach for it and slowly try to flip over in order to get the toy. You can help baby flip the first few times and subsequently let her figure it out on her own.
