I used to give three glasses a day to my daughter. One in the morning, one evening and one at night, and even then my husband felt that we were giving less milk to our daughter. There was so much of discussions over this topic in our home that we saw her doctor, and he told us that 1 to 2 cups are sufficient for a three year old and it covers the baby's calcium and vitamin D needs. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/2-cups-of-milk-per-day-best-for-toddlers-study-finds/

3 portions for me. On average most 3 years old take 3 portions as well. One in the morning, afternoon and night. Maybe also another feed in the middle of the night. Thats more of comfort.
