That is a tough one. As a part of potty training, he should be able to tell you that he wants to go. If not, all the training efforts would be a waste. A sign that he is ready is, if you keep him out of the diaper from half an hour, he does not urinate. Always ask him if he wants to wee. Once he is ready, he will start telling you. Once that happens, take him to a potty and ask him to go. You can keep a cheap potty handy in each room, or take him to the toilet. For boys, ask him to aim at some point in the potty, or use a cheerio or a raisin in the potty and ask him to aim at it. That way, you ensure that the splashing around is minimal. Hope it helps.
