In my opinion, any form of physical punishment should be the very very very very very last resort, when all other avenues have been exhausted. I personally don't believe in caning, partly because I grew up in a household that did, and honestly, I don't think it works. The only thing it did was either made me super scared to try anything or to make mistakes or in my brother's case, to be even more rebellious and brazen in his ways. How about taking away their privileges when they misbehave. Take away their gadgets, their toys, their desserts, that trip to the zoo you promised... with how addicted kids are to their mobile gadgets, taking away their phones or tablets will have a devastating impact/

Hi Daniel, we need to separate the behavior from the child. Always let the child know that they are unconditionally loved as this builds a positive belief within them that they are loved and are lovable. Regarding behavior we need to find out why the child is behaving in a certain way and get to the root cause. We can set rules and boundaries.
