Maternity insurance

Hi, does anyone know why it is available from week 13 onward? Is it because the insurer will want to see the week 12 detailed scan report? Or is it so that the mom can declare any issues from the 12 week report?

Cos 12w still consider 1st trimester and risk of miscarriage is higher, so they will have to pay out if it happens and you’re covered. 13w onwards is considered 2nd trimester so risk of miscarriage lower.
