One of my friends decided to get Spectra S1 after reading this detailed review: http://livingwithlowmilksupply.com/spectra-breast-pump-reviews Thus far, no complaints. In fact, she found the whole pumping experience quite pleasant. She also appreciates the night light function as she sometimes pumps in the night after feeding her baby in the middle of the night. The light allow her to stay in the room without switching on the lights which minimize disruption to her sleeping hubby. Though bulky, she does not find it a hassle as she leaves it in the same place.

Yes, a good pump is very important to empty the milk in boobs. Hospital graded pump is better at clearing boobs effectively. I used Ameda pump and it is not strong enough to pump out the milk so I used back my medela manual pump where I can better stimulate the let down and strength but the downside is only can pump one side each time. You might want to try Spectra S1/S2 which are hospital graded pump.
