Hi All, My daughter is 6 months old. She is just 6kg. My paediatrician told she is under weight. I have started with nestum rice during 5th month. And now I need your advice in feeding habit for my baby. What solid foods and fruits can be given at 6th month.?

Hi, See, firstly, I must share with you that you must not give grain in any form to your baby till she turns one or more because babies till this age do not have an enzyme that is required to digest grain. And since your baby is 6 month old you can give her solids and can make her eat anything from cheese, minced chicken in chicken soup, vegetables, a spoon of ghee in her dal, all pulses but majorly that are easy to digest. Eggs are rich in nutrients and you should give her egg daily. Give her banana, gram, nuts after grinding them, oats, whole wheat, all fruits etc. http://blog.cincinnatichildrens.org/healthy-living/how-to-increase-calories-in-your-underweight-child/ http://indianhealthyrecipes.com/best-foods-weight-gain-babies-toddlers/ http://www.livestrong.com/article/521263-what-can-i-feed-my-underweight-8-month-old/ Hope this will be of help. Take care.

Hi mommy, at this age I won't suggest you giving grains. If you really have to give her additional foods, please check with the doc and give her formula milk. Once she is 6 months old, you can also give her dal ka paani, fruits and vegetables juice, homemade soups and such. Once she gets used to these u can start with mashed food. Make sure to also check with the doc

starting rice at this stage is a little too early, like the other moms also mentioned here. why don't you give her formula milk instead? ask your baby's doc which brand or type is suited best and go with it. once she crosses 6 months of age, you can start her on liquids and then move on to semi-solids and then solids.
