Each teaching approach is unique. As for its pros and cons, it really depends on your view on education and what you feel is best for your kid. Perhaps, I can share on the differences between Montessori and Reggio Emelia and you might be in a better position to choose a suitable preschool for your kid. Both philosophies aim to teach our kids to be competent, independent learners. The main difference is that for Montessori, learning is dependent on the teacher and the learning environment WHILE Reggio Emelia focuses on relationships that the child has with other children, teacher and the environment and this shapes learning. You can read more on this at: http://sg.theasianparent.com/the-preschool-curriculum-conundrum/ Hopefully, this makes it clearer on the distinctions of each approach - with this in mind, and your child's personality, you would be in a better position to weigh the pros and cons of each approach for your kid :)

Hi Diana, These are some of the Reggio Emilia schools: Blue House Nursery & International School www.bluehouseinternational.com/ourapproachOdyssey, The Global Preschool www.theodyssey.sg/about/early-childhood-education Etonhouse International Education Group www.etonhouse.com.sgBetween Two Trees www.betweentwotrees.sg The Children's Place www.thechildrensplace.com.sg Little Hands www.littlehands.com.sg White Lodge www.whitelodge.com.sg There are plenty plenty of preschools that profess to be Montessori in nature. This link provides some of the Montessori preschools around. http://www.sassymamasg.com/ultimate-guide-montessori-singapore/ As both are teaching philosophies and do not have a rigid curriculum, I do feel that it is best to head down to the preschool and have a chat with their teachers to find out how these teaching philosophies are translated into their curriculum. Hope the above information helps!

I personally prefer reggio Emelia. Because relationships and environment plays a crucial part. 55% of our who we become are based on the environment. So being independent is one thing. Learning to socialise, and adapting is vital. The journey is a learning process itself.
