Unfair, children should be able to do what they like
Fair, whats the point if the child has no aptitude?

Fair because there’s limited slots in all CCA and some CCA have competitions etc. A lot of students drop out when they find CCA too tough for them because they joined initially for the popularity/didn’t know what they were getting into. They waste the slot that could have gone to someone else with the passion and aptitude. In a perfect world, yeah everyone can join whatever they want but there’s limited resources so how?

There are already some CCAs that require audition. This is to see suitability and if the child will be able to cope. It might not be a bad thing actually! Of course, best if there's a trial then at least the child can get a feel before deciding to dive into it!

when it comes to some ccas such as music groups, those who had previous exposure to it will definitely win over another child totally new to it. though it is still fair as it allows selection of those with aptitude.

I think in a way it is fair because it gives those who wants to continue pursuing what they have learnt a better chance. And for those whose built are cut out for it, can have a spot

It’s only for certain CCAs like arts and sports, if that is what the school is known for

Rather than the child being stuck with something he/she has lost interest in...

It's fair for some of the CCA which really need talent for example choir?

In primary sch? Shouldnt. In sec sch, then probably yes...

Children should be given choice to choose what they like

They should be given a chance to do what they enjoy
