One potential effect may be decrease in milk supply for the breastfeeding mother. That being said, there were no known adverse impact on the baby found thus far. Some mothers report fussiness in babies which could be due to hormonal changes due to the pill which lead to a minimal decrease in the protein/nitrogen/lactose content of the milk. Like what the rest have mentioned, consult a doctor for the appropriate pill to take. If you did notice a drop in your supply, you may want to try stopping and see if your supply returns. In the meantime, you can try other methods of contraception. For more information, you can refer to this article: http://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/meds/birthcontrol/

Your doctor may prescribe something that suits your needs better and takes into account your other health conditions.

I didn't take any contraceptive pills while breastfeeding as the hormone will pass to my baby through breastmilk. For me, after I deliver my baby no.3 I will opt for IUD, which will not interfere my breastfeeding.
