any suggestions for baby proofing products that is not expensive?

This website (link below) has affordable and practical baby proofing hacks that anyone can DIY at home. One of my favourites is to use fabric paint to decorate the underside of your baby's socks especially when they are learning to walk. The fabric paint when all dried will help her socks grip better to the floor and thus prevent slipping. I also found the idea of using a simple rubber band around the toilet roll in the bathroom really useful -- this prevents the child from pulling at the toilet roll and wasting them. http://kidsactivitiesblog.com/72726/child-safety-tip

Not too sure if you are asking for first aid tips or suggestions of places where you can learn first aid for babies but maybe you can check this YouTube Playlist by the St John Ambulance group in the UK. as a mom it's important to me how my kid would respond to me. how will I know if I'm already controlling my kid or guiding him?

When I was a child, I remember throwing tantrums and talking back whenever I felt that I was being controlled. Obviously, my parents will not take to this nicely. I suppose you can look out for negative behaviour from your child -- throwing tantrums, talking back, little signs of rebellion, scared of trying things and asking for approval for everything he does are some signs to indicate that you might be controlling your child instead of guiding.
