Speech delay child

My son is turning 5 next mth in Oct, and he is speech delqy child. We sent him to Eipic School and cn see some improvements. He will be going to k2 nxt year and i started to worried so much on his speech. Any mommies here has a child w speech delqy and how are ur kids coping? What u do to help their speech?

My son is 2 years old and we’ll be bringing him to see a speech therapist at KKH. He can call papa and mama but only when he feels like it. He can shout and babbles alot which I feel that he’s trying to talk but he just can’t form actual words. I try to reduce tv/ipad time and talk to him normally (not using baby terms) and read to him. They mimic the people/ environment around them. If they come into contact with very quiet or little human interaction or a constantly shouting/arguing background, I believe it’ll more or less impair their speech.

With all the emerging delta cases are you still sending your child to preschool?

For us we have decided to change her from full day preschool and day care to just half day so she does not have to take out her mask at school, whether for lunch or nap time.

Challenges of travelling to SPED school

My spouse and I are anticipating challenges when our child attends school at EDEN bukit batok. Both of us are working and we are trying to work out how to bring our child home (in the east). Do any parents encounter the same challenges and what solutions were you able to employ?

Hi there, There’s really not many options to work around it. Either you pick a school closer to you like St Andrew’s or Metta School, or you could consider moving to the west since your child is likely to be at Eden for the next 10-11 years? Commuting is going to be tiring for both you and your child. At least if you’re closer, you could employ a helper to assist you with picking your child up from school. Hope you find a solution!
