When is it OK to start using bumpers on cribs? i know you don't want to use them with a newborn b/c of the risk of SIDS but at what month do you start worrying about the baby getting his limbs stuck in between the railings vs SIDS?

Some believe that it's safe to use when baby has turned 6 months or so. While some experts believe that it is never safe and can cause injury to baby. I belong to the latter group. I don't think it's necessary. I feel it restricts too much movement and not conducive to baby when he or she is in the crib. Plus I've heard stories of older babies using the crib bumpers as a means to climb out and they hurt themselves pretty badly.

I don't think bumper is good idea, cause baby can step on it and rise higher and fall off bed. Can change to playpen or mattress on floor?

I have nv used it for my first child and don't intend to use it for my second one either. Their limbs would get stuck.
