There are recommendations from MCNP/Modern Cloth Nappying Pinays on how to best disinfect cloth diapers. -soaking over night in cold water works best for the shells and for anything with PUL (Polyurethane Laminate, most common fabric used in cloth diaper). Then put a little amount of detergent and wash once. Let them dry hanged under the sun -Unlike for the shells, it is best to use hot water for the inserts, soakers and boosters especially those made of natural mat'ls like bamboo or hemp. Soak them overnight. wash them once with a little detergent and hang them by the sun. If you are looking for the best natural detergent for your cloth diapers, here're good suggestions from cloth nappying moms: -VIctoria natural herbal laundry powder -Human Nature's tough love -Eco Green Detergent :)

i've read that you can use either hydrogen peroxide, hot water, vinegar, baking soda or bleach in disinfecting. Sun is a great disinfectant, too! After washing your dipes, line dry them. Mr. Sun has an anti-bacterial capability.
