Thermometer

What kind of thermometer do you use for your newborn? Thought of getting infrared forehead thermometer… can i use the normal armpit/mouth thermometer for newborn? If yes, how and where do you put the thermometer on your newborn?

My doc said armpit thermometer is most accurate for newborn up to 6 months. After that then I switched to ear type
