What would you do if you think your helper has stolen something?

Test your helper. Leave some dollar notes in some not too obvious places where she cleans regularly. Take down the serial numbers of the notes. I have tried this before but in my previous workplace and unfortunately, the money was gone. I could hv gone to the police but eventually let it go.
