How old is your little one? You can try to adopt baby led weaning method. http://www.babyledweaning.com/ "The distinct advantage of weaning at around six months is that by then, our children are developmentally capable of feeding themselves proper food, in other words – no more mush! You just hand them the food in a suitably-sized piece and if they like it they eat it and if they don’t they won’t. (But they do, really they do… check out the baby with the pork chop). That’s the essence of Baby Led Weaning. No purees, no ice cube trays, no food processor, no potato masher, no baby rice, no weird fruit and veg combos… just you and your child, eating food that you enjoy with you and your family." Here are the some ideas of BLW recipes: http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/babyledweaning-recipesfoods.htm http://homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/baby-led-weaning-recipes === For older child who doesn't like vegetables, you can try to involve him in growing up own leafy vegetables so he will be feeling more appreciate and willing to take in own grown vegetables. Another way is to use food face kids dinner plate to encourage him to decorate the face using vegetables and eat them. You can get from amazon for about USD12.90. Here is a vege patties recipe which is very easy to prepare and tasty: http://littlegrazers.com/mini-vegetable-and-cheddar-patties/

Young children often touch or smell new foods, and might even put tiny bits in their mouths and then take them back out again. Your child might need repeated exposure to a new food before he or she takes the first bite. Encourage your child by talking about a food's color, shape, aroma and texture — not whether it tastes good. Serve new foods along with your child's favorite foods. Also, if your child isn't hungry, don't force a meal or snack. Likewise, don't bribe or force your child to eat certain foods or clean his or her plate. This might only ignite — or reinforce — a power struggle over food. In addition, your child might come to associate mealtime with anxiety and frustration or become less sensitive to his or her own hunger and fullness cues. Serve small portions to avoid overwhelming your child and give him or her the opportunity to independently ask for more.

My 7yo is a picky eater since young. And till today I blamed myself for not forcing him ti eat. For not trying and trying again and again. He's 7yo now and weighs 16kg. My biggest mistake is not being creative. Now I have a 10 month old girl, I do BLW and she eats whatever we eat minus the seasoning and salt etc. My advice is, be patient, keep trying and do not ever give up. You can find ways to be creative to make him eat the things he dislikes. I bought a lot of cute cutters (for tofu, for bread etc) from daiso just to make sure my kids finds it attractive to eat. Good luck Mummy! :)

Hi Mary, My son did that too when there is vege or meat in his rice or noodles. I spank his hand when he did that. It dont work. He stubbornly tell me he dislike vege and meat. The spitting food lasted about 1 year. It will go away without realising it. Just gotta hang on there.

I add dried fruits in my veggie cooking, and usually that works to help my children finish their meals. Also you can add natural coloring to make your meal (eg rice/bread) more attractive.

thanks grace! we really have to be patient when our child is a picky eater. cause we wont let them eat nothing at all, so ill make sure he'll ate even a little bit every meal time.
