Bacteria around vagina before birth

Hi moms, did u get yourself tested for bacteria around your vagina before birth for baby’s safety? Did your doctor advised you to? I am 35weeks and doctor wanted to do it but I told them that I’m uncomfortable with it and it was not compulsory as well. Any complications after doing it? I’m just traumatised each time they insert something in my vagina.

I did this. And if I remember correctly, it’s quite a quick and simple procedure. They just swab. I don’t remember them inserting anything. Is it the b streptococcus swab? It’s quite recommended as if ure positive, they will need to provide antibiotics during by labour as it could be harmful to the newborn. Mine thankfully was negative!

Is it yeast infection testing? Not sure but my gynae checked my cervix and gave me medication for that. Its a tablet and where i need to insert it myself. Just one tablet and its enough to clear the infection thing.
