Sleeping Position During First Trimester

Hi all, is it really inadvisable to sleep on your back during pregnancy? I’m not used to sleeping on my sides as my arms tend to go numb or ache in the middle of the night, and prefer to sleep on my back (or even belly down!) but have seen horror stories that it increases the risk of stillborn…? Any advice or just how to make sleeping sideways for comfortable would be greatly appreciated!

We totally get where you’re coming from! Adjusting your sleep position during pregnancy can be a real pain, especially when you’re used to your back or belly. 😅 While it’s generally fine to sleep on your back in the first trimester, it’s best to start getting used to side-sleeping as you progress. It can feel weird at first, but we have some great tips in this article to help make it comfier for you! its fine during the first trimester coz the fetus is too small to affect much. As the fetus grows, it will start to press down ona certain artery or vein (I can't rmb which one), and you'll feel very uncomfortable lying on your back, and will not want to lie on your back as a result

Sleeping positions does not really matter during the first trimester. Just sleep on your side when you’re close to or during your third trimester, as advised by my gynae.
