After much thought, I decided to take the vaccine today, at week 27. Because I think the risk of me getting covid and affecting the baby is more than the vaccine affecting the baby. I got assurance from my Gynae that the vaccine will not pass through the placenta to the baby only antibodies will. With Singapore opening up and the more contagious delta variant, everyone around me is fully vaccinated and they can still be carriers of the virus to me. Weighing the pros and cons, during delivery I will be exposed to a lot of people in and out of the suite. And my original plan of vaccinating after confinement. I’m worried that my body might be weaker and any side effects I am worried I can’t handle especially with a new born around. So thought that now is the better time to take it. Either way it’s a risk! So it’s just to weigh which risk we are willing to take. And don’t feel pressured it’s all a personal choice and you must be comfortable with your decision :)
I took the first dose of vaccine at week 22 and the second dose at week 26.5. Baby and I are fine ◡̈ my Gynae had advised that the complications that arise from a covid infection during pregnancy outweigh the reported effects of the vaccine on pregnant women and their foetuses. The research is not extensive on this, but many pregnant women overseas have been vaccinated and did not report any negative effects. While we don’t know the long term effects on our babies, we at least know sg is not ‘closed doors’ to travel and borders are still open, plus we are already moving into “new normals” where there is more opening up, dining out etc. even if we lock ourselves up at home, we will have to go hospital, clinic, etc, order food/delivery etc and cannot be 100% locked away from others…
May I know which vaccine you took?
Took my first dose at 26 weeks. Which was 3 days ago. And so far so good. Baby’s still as active as before i had the jab and hope all goes well for my second dose in september! I was like you too, but sadly… my workplace is starting to do the swab every 2 weeks and i work with people alot. Plus, the virus/variant is getting more and more stronger, and that worries me. So i decided to take it. 😖 cause initially i wanted to wait till i give birth. But mummy, don’t beat yourself to it. If you think you want to wait till after birth, then go for it! 💪🏻 because it’s actually not an easy decision for me too!
initially i wanted to wait till after delivery, but my gynae advised to take the covid vaccine as it is more important to take before delivery rather then after delivery. after all the consideration i took my first dose at 27 weeks and taking my 2nd dose on 5sept. im now in my 28weeks. I also have a cousin in malaysia that deliver her baby at 34weeks pregnant and was put to slp due to covid and was force to do a csect. She eventually pass away after 2weeks of giving birth. Because of covid.. and was not vacinnated.
As i Will need to travel to work and face clients everyday, it will be more safer if i take as i don't want to take the risk in getting covid and it will affect my daughter...I took my first dose waiting on second dose on the 31st... First dose not much effect just tiredness and pain the the arm which went away after 1 day... I took Pfizer
I had my first jab of pfizer on 8 Sep after many thoughts and weighing out the risk as my gyanae also recommend to go for the vaccine. Went on a schedule anomaly scan yesterday and everything is fine. Will have my second jab next week. Currently is week 20 + 3days. Btw, only sore arm after first jab.
i am 34 weeks. i chose to take after birth. there is no long term studies on whether it could affect baby development while growing up. i prolly overthink but i dont wanna risk it. thus ,i chose to do it after birth. i ve been wfh and hardly goes out.
I’m also considering if I should take.. currently in week 21. doc actually said good to take to prevent covid but he also said no one knows what are the long term effects since the jab is only around for a year when asked. Will update again if I decided to take.
I just took mine today! initially, i have reservations since there are limited studies about it. But my gynae encouraged me to take it so I'm took it. Just sore arms, mild headache and nausea but otherwise all good. And baby is still active!
taken mine, Pfizer, second dose yesterday, so far only minor pain on arm, no fever and still working as usual the next day. my sister took hers 1 month ago too, her baby is well now, delivering in 1 week time =)
