My wife has been defying our baby's pedia for prescribing vitamins. She insists that she'll continue to breastfeed our baby and breastmilk is pact with all the vitamins that babies need. What's your thought?

If your baby isn't a premie, is feeding and latching well and has enough wet diapers per day, I would agree with your wife. Breastmilk has all the nutrients that a baby would need and they wouldn't need any supplements unless the mother herself is lacking in a certain nutrient e.g. Omega 3. Otherwise, I wouldn't give any supplements either.

I do not think that vitamins are required for the baby unless there is some major deficiency that the breast milk is not filling up. As when my baby was breastfeeding, all her PD told us that for six months the baby should be breastfed and that it has everything that baby needs for the initial months.
