It really depends on the couple. For me, personally, I feel that "trust" once broken will take a lot of time and effort to be gained back. However, it is not impossible if both put in effort to try and mend the relationship.
I do hope that things will work out well for your cousin. Sometimes, raising a child in a love-less (for lack of a better word) relationship may not be the best for the child. The child may sense the lack of genuine care and affection between his/her parents.
Your cousin could also consider marriage counseling if things did not improve or if she still finds it hard to accept and forgive her husband.
