My 8 day old baby is suddenly hungry all the time and waking up every hour for a feed where she drains my breasts out completely. Could this be a growth spurt?

It is possible that your newborn may be going through a growth spurt. While each baby may go through growth spurts at different periods, the common ones seemed occur at: 1-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3rd month, 6th month and 9th month. The common signs that your baby is going through a growth spurt are: - increased hunger: your baby may seemed hungrier than usual - night waking: your baby may have more frequent night waking and will readily feed Growth spurts usually last for 2-3 days, but could also go up to a week. Drink more fluid and eat more to help keep up your supply for your baby. Get as much rest as you could.
