Mums, is it normal for baby to not kick for 2-3 hours at a stretch? I'm in my 7th month and I've noticed that at times my baby is silent for up to 3 hours. Should I be worried?

Have you been keeping track of your baby’s kick counts? If it is a decrease from your baby’s usual pattern, you could contact your doctor for some advice. At 28 weeks, you should be able to notice some pattern from your baby’s routine. It is always better to seek your doctor’s opinion if it is a decrease from the usual pattern. You can also try lying on your left side (with support under your bump) for two hours, stay still and focus on your baby’s movements. You may have missed them earlier if you were moving around. That being said, you can try the following to encourage your baby to move: - Have snack, lie down and relax. There is a possibility that your baby may just be asleep while you are moving around. Relaxing and having something to eat may wake him/her, increasing the chances of him/her moving. - Have a cold drink. The change in temperature will be felt by your baby and he/she will try to move away from it. - Make some noise and see if he/she responds. As mentioned earlier, it is always better to consult with your doctor if you are worried.
