Covid-19 Vaccine

Hello mummies out there, is it safe to take the vaccine during pregnancy? My Gynae did told me that only 1 out of many of his patients took the jab. I was thinking to take after give birth. Any advices? Thanks…

I seek my gynae advice before going for covid-19 vaccination. I do not have any pregnancy complication and no underlying health condition. Initially he asked me to go for the vaccination after baby is delivered because there is lack of study when I was still in my first trimester. I took my first jab (Pfizer) on 7 Sept when I was about 6 months pregnant. I had sore arm and felt abit tired after that. I had my usual prenatal checkup on last Friday. Both me and baby is doing well. I’ll be taking my second dose vaccination tomorrow. Initially I wanted to heed my gynae’s advice to take the covid-19 vaccination after delivering my baby in Dec but due to the recent surge of cases and my dad is a full time taxi driver there is higher chance of us getting exposed to the virus even though I have been WFH since last year April and I rarely go out except attending gynae appointments. Hence, after weighing the pros and cons I’ve decided to go ahead with the vaccination now than later to keep both myself and my baby protected. But ultimately the decision of taking the covid-19 vaccination is still up to you. Jiayous mummy and stay safe!

Thank you ! I also in dilemma stage now

I think no one can guarantee there are no long term side effects although the risk is low as mRNA has been tested in humans since 2010 and thousands of pregnant women had been vaccinated and numbers show no higher risk of miscarriage and stillbirth. I was hesitant in my first trimester as major baby organs are still forming and the cases in Singapore is still controlled. But now, the risk of getting Covid is very high. If 80% of Singaporean are vaccinated and thus show no symptoms, if they log 1000 cases a day there is probably another 3000 infected people untested in the community but may still spread the virus. Assuming this is constant, that's 100k new infections a month. How long before you come into contact with an infected person who is your food delivery rider, hawker food handler, or family contact? I think you have to weigh the risks for yourself - how tight is your social circle, how exposed are you and how many more months to delivery?

I working from home since May. And I seldom go out unless go Gynae check or get baby stuff. But I hv a 9 year old At home also unvaccinated . I am Due in early dec. As I have high blood issue, Gynae actually says don’t wan to add complication to it and asked me to stay away from crowded places . So I m in a dilemma stage

i took both doses already. the 1st one before i was pregnant, and the second during my early 1st trimester. pfizer vaccines are approved for pregnant women, and safe for unborn baby to absorb through their mommies anti bodies. the benefits of getting the covid vaccine outweigh the risk. it all boils down to individual beliefs ; i would rather have an immunity against this virus, rather than be pregnant and risk complications if i get the virus without any protection. trust your gut feeling mommy 💕

Agree. As we can’t control others. We only can do is to protect ourselves and our family.

I have take my dose in between my pregnancy. My gyne say no problem as long as it’s your turn to take just take. I do happen read by one article from Malaysia. There is 2 mummy they are positive. End up both take turn to emergency delivery and go into ICU. So sad is they don’t even see or touch their new born and just left. Lucky the baby born didn’t get affected. If you still have enough time to take your vaccine before delivery please consider. Not only protect yourself. Also protect your baby.

Actually many mummies took both doses already and so far most of the symptoms are probably only sore arms and headache. (As compared to hubs which had fever in addition). Some still take it at week 37. For that extra protection for you and bb, I’d recommend you to take it. I took Pfizer for both doses. Baby still kicking actively. I had only sore arms for both doses :)

Will be taking my second jab this week! Got my first moderna jab before I got pregnant, and gynae advised to wait until week 13 onwards. To be honest, the risks of covid complications outweigh vaccine side effects for me, and I've been reading up a lot too on pregnant women who have gotten the vaccine and still given birth to healthy babies. Trust ur gut feel 😊

i took both doses between week 32 and week 35. actually it took me awhile to change my mind about the vaccine… with recent surge and concerns i decided to take the vaccine to protect myself and baby. i only got sore arm and slightly more tired for two days - same for both doses.

Since the cases are raising more in Singapore i did not want to risk. So changed my decision and took the jab after consulting with infectious disease specialist in week 33 - first dose

My gynae recommend to only take after 2nd trimester. I took my 1st jab during week 17, only sore arm. 2nd jab will be next week. & yes, only pfizer.
