You can avoid putting too much water on it until it falls off on its own but you can definitely shower the baby while it is there. Just wipe it with cotton ball dipped in warm water and keep the area clean
I put baby in bath tub and do wipe down all over until her cord falls off (5th day). Keep the belly area clean and dry, wipe with alcohol wipes until the cord fells off. 😊
