i am a heavy smoker whereby i can smoked 1.5pack in 24 hours( midnight wakeup toilet break 1 stick, before slp1 stick, after meals 1stick, chit chatting and watching shows 20 to 30min 1 stick.)one day, i told my husband and my sisters that if im really pregnant i sure quit smoking. yes that day came, i quitted smoking immediately after when i found out i was pregnant on a test kit at home (april2021) unfortunately, that pregnancy became a miss miscarriage when i was about 5weeks. it was devastated as my husband and i were trying for years, we even went to kkh for fertility check. everything was okay. it's hard to resist when your husband is smoking at home and at this point i keep psycho myself that i need a healthy body to allow my baby to stay although i do have to urge to smoke back. and yes, 1 year later (late april 2022) im pregnant again with a smoke-free body and just gave birth to my bbg last dec! never regret when you still can change it! try eating fruits(apple, orange, blueberries, strawberry, kiwi) instead of sweet. dont keep stay home. try to go out often. like for a stroll downstairs or to the shopping mall(enjoy free aircon since sg so hot)

My friend mentioned she was smoking quite abit when she was in first trimester then she cut down to 1-2 sticks ..however she says it’s not a good example. Anyway, go read up on the side effect on how smoking affect babies and who knows your mother instinct will instantly make you stop smoking immediately? I used to smoke at least 20 sticks everyday but one day while taking care of my dad in the hospital , I suddenly realise the best way to be responsible to your love ones are to keep yourself healthy in order to take care of them .. thus I didn’t even finish my last packet and I stopped smoking ever since.. it’s been 4-5 years since I stopped.. within 1 year the temptation was still there on and off especially when I am going through stress but I tell myself, if I can stop for so many days, I shouldn’t spoil the effort I put in previously… it’s a lot of strong willed thinking going on , not easy but can be done! It’s only difficult if you tell yourself cannot do it. All the best and congrats on your pregnancy!

I was a heavy smoker and I quit immediately after finding out about my pregnancy :) be prepared to gain alot of weight though because i constantly had to keep my mouth busy with snacks and sweets to make sure i dont smoke! It seems impossible to quit, but i keep telling myself that i dont want to cause harm to my baby and regret it later. If i can do it, you can too!!! I believe you can! Take small meals so theres no urge to smoke after. If there is, i take sour candy to keep my mind off it. And as silly as this sounds, i threw away my lighters and ciggs and stayed away from smokers/smoking corners 😅 didnt want to be tempted! I’ve been smoke free since July 2022, now 38 weeks pregnant and honestly i feel like its been great. Im sure you can do it too. Please talk to gynae first before going on patches or gum just in case. Being a heavy smoker made me hve low lying placenta most of my pregnancy and i felt unfair that my baby suffered because of me. So please think twice too before caving in! Not easy, I KNOW!! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi mummy! I can't advise on the heavy smoking prior to falling pregnant part, but I used to be a heavy smoker and drinker 7-8 years ago before I met my husband. I drink and smoke everyday and I can smoke 1-2 packs a day, after being together with my husband (then bf) he suggested to quit together as we see each other in our future and he told me that it will somehow or rather affect my health and baby's health (when we wanna try) if I continued smoking. We've been together (including marriage) for 7 years and have never once went back to these bad habits, I also inspired my close colleague to quit after telling her my experience. I'm alr almost 27 weeks pregnant now and I have no regrets at all making that decision about quitting back then, at least I know I did my part to cleanse my body of these toxins all these years before trying. If I can do it, so can you! Anyway it's never too late to start now, do it for your baby! ❤️

i tried hard to conceive naturally but can't, so we went thru IVF, and finally i got preg last Dec 2022 and gave birth in Sept 2022. Even during the process I was still smoking on and off. once I tested positive, i can't stand the smell of smoke and it just automatically made me quit. now my baby boy 5 mths, the temptation to smoke back is strong furthermore my husb is a smoker. but i told myself. i went thru so much to have my lo just to waste my health away. what i can say to u is, put ur heart and mind into it, if u can't quit immediately. then try a few puff on 1 stick for a day. slowly but surely. keep in mind, ur body is carrying a new life that u will embrace in 9 mths time, which u will also want him/her to be healthy. u can do this mummy!

Hey babe! Congrats on your pregnancy ❤️ I was a heavy smoker when I was pregnant. Everyday I tried to cut down to about less than 7 sticks and not finish a cig. Everyday I was feeling the fear and guilt to baby. But at 6 weeks I suddenly developed nausea to the cig, as well as to the cig smell. Then, pregnancy nausea kicked in till 5th month of pregnancy. So from week 6 onwards, I quit smoking cause I couldn't stand the smell. I just gave birth last January. The urge to smoke is there, but due to breastfeeding I resist the temptation. All the best to you and I hope you will naturally quit too! ❤️

I immediately throw my pack of cig when i tested positive for pregnancy. For your child’s health sake, it’s best to stop. Altho it’s tough but it’s worse if you keep on smoking and it will cause harm to baby esp during the first trimester when your baby is starting to grow…. For your baby’s sake and your own health, just throw your pack of cig away. Anyway, when you’re preg you’ll be sensitive towards smell so you’ll start to hate the smell haha. Even some food too. Just tahan for 9 mths, it’s ok one.

I tried to quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks but it wasn’t successful as I felt my mindset was wrong, I kept focusing how “how not to smoke” instead of “not thinking about smoking at all”, when you’re constantly thinking of “how not to smoke”, you’re actually reminding yourself to smoke I felt. So when I just entirely forget/not think about smoking, I managed to quit since 5th week of my pregnancy.

For me it was more of willpower. Also maybe cos of the morning sickness. I quit cold turkey style after I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks - overnight I threw out all of it and I never looked back. Of course there are days where i feel overwhelmed and wanna take a stick, but I’ll just look at my baby’s ultrasounds and munch on healthy snacks such as fruits. Good luck.

i have been a heavy smoker since i was 15 (last time no need to check IC if buy cigs haha).. got pregnant when i was 38yrs old, still smoked a bit until i was about 2 months pregnant and cig smell made me puke. couldnt stand it, and have been smoke-free since. my daughter born feb 2022 healthy, i was glad that i had a smell aversion to cig smoke :)
