Hi mummies & daddies, anyone of you here has experiences of newborns making loud, high-pitched rasping sound when breathing. How do I stop this?

There is a condition called "Stridor" which may present as the high-pitched breathing sound. It often appears when baby is 2 weeks old and baby will outgrow it. Here is a video with some general information on it (not sure if it's the same as what you are hearing, so you can take a look at the video): http://fox17online.com/2015/01/06/medical-moment/ Other treatment option include having a surgery. Hope this helps!

It's probably due to small airways. Let baby sleep slightly elevated. It will help with the mucus backflow.

I have not heard of this before. Hope you have brought him for a check up.

sounds not normal. have u checked wif your doctor?

Yes. Doctor said its because of their short airway but I don't see this happening to my #1 when she's a newborn
