hello mummies and daddies, my 26 mth old is badly constipated. Constipation started about 6 mths ago. She would strain so hard and would bring the whole house down with her screams :( When she finally has a "go", stools are as hard as rock and sometimes a little bloody. Doc just prescribed Lactulose, which she hates taking. We mask it in her full cream milk which she takes while im at work. When Im home, i bf her. Solids wise, she takes rice quite a bit. Rejects all fruits except for grapes. Takes probiotic supplements and loves yogurt. She has not gained weight for the past 6 mths. Otherwise, she looks healthy and is active. We have tried fiber rich food, which she is completely rejecting and have increased water intake. Any advice?

I have read that grape could potentially help with constipation as well. Based on this article (http://www.natural-homeremedies-for-life.com/home-remedies-for-constipation.html), you can try soaking raisins (which are actually dried grapes) in hot water. After the water has cooled down, crush the raisins and strain the water. Offer the water for your girl to try. Can also try prune juice. If the taste is too strong, start with the diluted version first or try mixing it with apple juice. Children may take more to juices even if they don't eat the fruit.
