Shamed for breastfeeding

Hi moms! Im currently breastfeeding my child cos it’s the only form of feed I am used to. My baby is 4 months now and is still direct latching. She has attended infant care since 2 months and takes less than 50ml per feed in school. She goes to school from 8-2 at most, so I’m not very worried if she doesn’t drink in school since she’s there for a while. I only knew how to breastfeed her since I was alone ever since I gave birth to her. I had no form of help, hence, giving my baby breasts was the easiest. She’s growing rather small and slow, 4 months and she’s only 5.2kg. She was born 2.4kg but I feel at ease that she’s growing. Im sad because my mom has been pressuring me to stop breastfeeding her reason being she doesn’t know how to “hold” a bottle on her own or doesn’t know how to open her fingers up to hold things. It seems like a huge issue to my mom that my baby isn’t able to hold a bottle on her at 4 months since her son (my elder brother who’s 30 now) was able to do it when he was 4 months. Im upset because I have no idea how to stop my baby from breastfeeding. Im upset because my baby will refuse bottles since she was introduced to bottles only at 2 months. Im upset because I’ve tried every method to get her to hold her own bottle and tried bottle feed her but my baby just refuses to. And worst, I’m being shamed for breastfeeding her and giving her breast milk since she’s not growing. My mom has been telling me to throw away my breastmilk since it’s wasting space in the freezer and should just formula feed her. Im upset cos I don’t know what else to do. My mom has even forced my child to eat the baby’s biscuits and baby’s cerelac at 4 months and I’m not even sure if it’s right? And she’s sometimes feed my baby the food that she’s eating. Im exhausted. As much as I want to bottle feed my baby with formula, my baby really loves my breast and it’s the only thing that soothes her. She doesn’t even take pacifier :( what do I even do :(#advicepls #1stimemom #firstbaby #firstmom

Eh walao cannot feed baby before 6 months. Cerelac is a no no and even all the unhealthy sodium loaded food adults eat. Im so sorry u are going through this. JUST NO TELL HER STOP AND NO. I am breastfeeding and currently at 19 months and yes baby dont like bottle wouldn't even take a pacifier now but holy cow shes so good at gross and fine motor skills, started walking at 8 months, climbing playground at nine months. Gesturing to communicate even though expressive speech is abit behind. So angry reading ur experience really. 😡😡😡😡😡😡 Ur child doesn't NEED to take a bottle. A baby doesnt NEED to take a pacifier. Its all for convenience sake!!!!! Convenience for an adult pfft please la. Can open hands so early for what. Can hold bottle can be kind and smart one day meh??? Sorry ah sorry really upset breastfeeding mom with no help here!! Im a preschool teacher with more than ten years exp and continuously keeping up with best practices even as a stay home mom. Self reading on breastfeeding and intending to professionally learn about breastfeeding and get certified also. So please la sia leave. Can u leave the environment. Are u safe? Baby is absolutely not safe in this situation. And u are at high risk of depression if this carries on. I hope u have someone to get out of there ASAP. Please seek professional help too while u are at it ok. Seriously praying u and baby will be safe

I would have screamed at my mum if she was feeding what she was eating into my gal’s. Have u told her nicely not to do tat? Is ur child alr able to sit straight by herself? We started with puree abit late n we also realise she doesnt fancy having porridge. Till now, 9 mths, my gal just recently learnt how to hold her milk bottle by herself when she is lying down. Although in the past she got like wanna try but nv hold.. anyway my gal was born 2.5kg n right now at 9 mths she is only 7.3. as long as growing i feel its fine!

i think your mum have to respect the way you want to parent your own kid. each baby have their own milestone no need to compare. and you are the one who will decide when to stop breastfeeding esp direct latch etc. i m sorry that u have to go through this stage..for my case is my inlaws and now i move out so i can focus raising my baby without other distractions. Just do what you feel right for your baby..jia you!
