Newborn less than 1 week

Hi mommies, I just gave birth via c-sect few days ago & had tried breastfeeding even though I not sure is there any milk. But baby did managed to pee & poop like 1-2 times in the ward, & doctor said its normal. So now I'm at home, did breast pump then realised I have no milk. So no choice I switched to milk formula while waiting my nipples to heal from cracked. But I noticed my baby usually sleeping & doesn't wake for feed. So always I have to wake him. For now he drinks abt 30mls of milk every 2 hrs but still doesn't poop frequently. Like today, only poop in morning & wet diaper (not heavy) like 3 times. KK nurse ask me to increase feeds which I did, but pee/poop part worries me. Any mommies also same issues? Worried & stressed #AskingAsAMom #Needadvice #firsttimemom

During my time, I struggled too. The first three days, a Dr in KK told me to just give formula milk as my milk supply was not enough. My son only poop & pee 1 time a day. But then I asked for a 2nd opinion with a paediatrician who was my son’s Dr incharged, the Dr then told me that it was normal and to keep on direct feeding and the milk supply will eventually increase in a few days. You can try marmet or use breast pump to encourage the milk supply. So, I keep on direct feeding for every hour everyday and only after 5 days my breastmilk supply started to increase, but still not that much but enough for a newborn. Newborns may only consume 1-2 oz per feeding, as their stomachs are still small. It’s totally normal for newborns to pee & poop less than 5 times a day if you are fully breastfeeding, as it depends on the quantity the baby consume each feeding. And there’s nothing to be worry about. You do need to wake the baby up for feeding time, if you want to continue breastfeeding, then you need to feed your baby every hour to increase the milk supply. As your baby latching will signal the brain that there’s a demand for milk. Hence, demand > supply. And I managed to fully breastfed my son until 2y2m. Please don’t be stress or worry too much, as long as your baby pee & poop, the stomach not bloated, so everything is good. You already did the right thing. Don’t be stress ya, as it will affect your hormone and may affect your milk supply too. All the best mommy! Stay strong & speedy recovery to you! 🫶🏻
