Hi, any one know why name like Jia'en need to have a apostrophe?

Mummy of 1 bubbly little heartbreaker

Cause the first word ends with a vowel and the second one starts with one too.. If no spacing (Jiaen), not easy to pronounce. I have friends with names like Jia' En and Jia' Ai also comes with the apostrophe.
