Kiddo hates milk n I have tried everything from Horlicks to smoothies to chocolate but nothing works. Is milk really necessary? Can't give paneer n spinach etc everyday so how would she get her calcium requirement?
milk is unnecessary when kids themselves reject it. don't think that only dairy has calcium in it. there are many other things u can give to fill this quota. like curd, ice cream, soya chunks and best of all is something that's ample, easily available and totally free of cost.... sunlight. actually there r volumes written about the allergies that happens due to milk...right from asthma to diabetes. our body is programmed to absorb every bit of nutrient from every little thing we eat. plus it can naturally produce a lot of other nutrients through the various cycles in our body. u can't just keep giving him calcium and forget about nutrients that help him to digest, break down and absorb the calcium. so r u going to daily fret about which nutrients you gave and what u missed!! inspite of all the goodness we eat through normal foods, we still lack in a lot bcoz of stress, pollutants in food, fast lifestyle, poor exercise etc. so if u just remove milk from ur diet, it's not that body will suddenly feel deficient. body will start absorbing from other sources and producing it. like sunlight produces vit.D which helps in bone strength and development. so sunlight was not served in a glass that was drunk. it was through the skin. that means body can seek nourishment from different sources. so u googsearch on different types of food u can introduce to ur child. speak to ur pediatrician about multi vitamin supplements that u can give so that this fear you r constantly living in can be overcome...
Read moreWell! If your kid is rejecting milk and no way of making him drink is working, you better leave it and focus on other dairy products that he likes to have. It can be substituted with paneer, yogurt, egg yolk, salmons, tuna. Milk has got nutritional benefits of proteins and calcium which you can give the child in form of cereal, green veggies, broccoli, tofu, orange juice nuts etc. Sunlight too is a good source of Vitamin D, so you can make the kid play in the sunlight. http://eating-made-easy.com/kids-really-need-drink-milk/
