But if it has happened then you can use breast pump and it will help relieve the pain caused by engorgement. And after that continue with the normal feeding to the child. You can also take use moist hot pad on the breasts for a few minutes. Make sure, that you do not do it for prolonged period as it may worsen the swelling. Gentle massage also helps in breast relaxation. You must consult a doctor if you have fever higher than 101 as it may be a signal of breast infection.
