Sit-in walkers are not only discouraged, it is banned in some parts of the world. Not only is it believed to hinder development, it is also a hazard especially if you have homes with pools and staircases. If you leave your child unsupervised on these walkers, they pretty much have access to any part of the house if you haven't already cordoned them off. I remember my little cousins getting overexcited in their walkers and they actually toppled over. Thankfully, there are always adults around so no injuries occurred. Push walkers are supposedly better but adult supervision is still integral when your toddlers use them.
