Baby measuring small at 36 weeks

Hi. I’m going into my 36 weeks soon and I went for my usual routine scan yesterday. (35+5). Gynae says that baby is measuring small at about 2.2kg :( my previous scan at 31weeks, baby was around 1.5kg. So she said baby’s growth is slow and should be more than 2.5kg by now. she also told me that it’s not because I’m not eating enough because blood test shows that it’s my placenta “ageing” earlier than expected. She suggested inducing my baby at 38 weeks if baby’s growth is stagnant due to my incompetent placenta. Any advices or anyone who went through the same thing as me?

I'm 35 + 5 today. I went for my scan 3 days ago. My baby is 2.3kg. My gynae says everything is good. It's not a concern for her weight as he checked my blood flow and it's OK. But I'm also advised to induce at week 38 due to gestational diabetes to reduce the risk of stillbirth. Somehow I was feeling very upset that day as I was worried about getting induced. I consoled myself that I will be able to see my daughter sooner and not worry about stillbirth too. So if your baby is coming out earlier, it may be a good thing as she will get the nutrients she need outside since she is not getting enough inside your tummy.

My gynae suspected my placenta was ageing too due to my bb’s weight! I was scared and worried but I listened to my gynae as I feel that she knows best. I too told myself being induced also means that I can meet my bb earlier!!! Anw, my bb was born healthy and well!!! She’s now a happy, healthy bb. She also gained a lot of weight already!! Don’t worry too much. I hope everything goes well for you and your bb. All the best and take care :-)
