If coding is so important, why is it just not part of Singapore's education curriculum. By having it as an extra curriculum thru academies like yours, aren't we keeping it as a rich man or elite people's activity?

I'm guessing because introducing changes to the core curriculum takes time. MOE is already taking baby steps by offering computing as an O level subject at 19 secondary schools starting next year. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/19-schools-to-offer-programming-at-o-levels I agree coding classes should be made available to kids across all income demographics. Saturday Kids has a social mission to do just that, and we are constantly looking for corporates and individuals who can contribute venue, equipment, time and money to help underprivileged kids get access to coding classes. http://saturdaykids.com/social-mission/ We are currently conducting a social experiment to make our classes more affordable. While I think coding is important and relevant, I still look at it as a niche or interest type thing. It doesn't really have the same core basic fundamentals as subjects like Science, Math or languages. I don't think it's necessarily a rich man's thing -- it's more of an interest. The interest is growing but it's not a household name yet.
