What’s your take on giving your EBF baby fresh milk once he/she turns 1 yr?
I want to breastfeed as long as I can but I’m also considering on slowly transitioning to fresh or plant-based milk. Any thoughts, mamas?
I breastfeed my 2 y/o til now, but we introduced fresh milk at age 1. Na-curious kasi sya when we drink it, and since gusto nya itry, we let him. Pwede naman na, so I breastfed on demand, and give him fresh milk pag nanghingi sya. Eventually he started drinking fresh milk more often than breast milk. He's almost off the boob na at 2yrs 4mos, and sakto lang kasi we have another one on the way. More often than not, he only nurses for comfort na lang. It works for us kasi it gives him more flexibility when it comes to what he eats and drinks. We use milk sa food without worrying about him not liking it. He's also not picky about the brand although may preference sya. Planning to do the same sa pangalawa. Seems easier din for me kasi hindi ako nahihirapan physically sa pagwi-wean, walang pain or discomfort sa breasts kasi it's been a very gradual process for us. Do what would work best for you and your family. Admittedly, masmataas ang fat content ng human milk than cow's milk but if your baby eats well naman, you can still get whole fat from other food sources.
