My husband refuses to use condoms as a contraceptive saying it kills the spontaneity of the moment. I do not want to take any oral contraceptives as they have side effects. Are there any other options I have?

I totally agree with your husband as condoms do kill the mood. But you need not worry so much as there are many options still available. The safest option you have today the IUD( Intrauterine Contraceptive Device) which is inserted in the vaginal passage by your doctor and is good for a period of upto 10 years.
