Me and hubby swear a f*** load. We can't help it, as we work in male centric environment that's full of aggression. Baby spends alot of time "accompanying" us for weekends or when we are multi-tasking work while taking care of bub. What's the chances her first few words will be swear words?

I once met a mum who dropped the ‘F’ bomb very casually, as if it is a part of normal speech when her six year old son is around. I inquired if she was not worried that her child will pick up on the bad language and think it is okay to swear as well. This mum firmly told me swearing is how she expresses herself and it is simply the way she speaks, she does not want to put on an image for her son and not be herself in the process. Interestingly though, her son is well aware of what ‘bad’ words are and does not repeat any of the swear words used by his mother.

Children are mirror images of parents. My maid used a lot of "la" and "ya" in her speech and my toddler picked up until I corrected him. So... there's a high chance your child first words could be swear words. If you don't want her to use those words, then you and ur hubby need to correct your speech at home. If you "can't help it" as you work in such an environment, then your toddler also won't be able to help it as she lives in such environment where her parents are constantly swearing. Make an effort to change.

The people in your working environment swear alot, but that doesn't mean that you need to follow them as you speak right? You mean you cant hold a proper conversation with them without using vulgarities? If you really have to use these profanities often, then you just have to exercise discretion while your kid is around you. You anticipate that this will be a concern. So do something about it before the situation gets out of hand.

Unless you keep chanting it, I doubt your little girl will catch it until probably 2+ coming to 3 for my case. We definitely watched our tongue though it slips once in awhile and it sure stick. I had to explain to her not to use the word "sh*t" cos it is smelly. I notice my girl tends to pick up words or phrases which we said unusually loud or sudden.

The first few words will def be mama or papa. you have to change the way you speak regardless what environment you work in. My inlaws are people who swears a lot. But ever since they caught my 5year old following after then. They stopped swearing whenever kids are around
