How do I teach my child about bullies in school and how to deal with them politely?

I recently watched (over and over again) Michelle Obama's speech at the DNC and she talked about dealing with big bullies. This quote is apt and I hope everyone will remember this when they have to deal with bullies: "... how we explain that when someone is cruel or acts like a bully, you don’t stoop to their level. No, our motto is, when they go low, we go high."
